Birthday + American Idol 2

I'll start with my birthday party on Saturday. My four friends and I drove up to LA late Saturday afternoon. We checked into our hotel, The Chamberlain West Hollywood, and quickly changed for our our Moroccan dinner. Our dinner was at Dar Maghreb and was seven courses which consisted of humus, lentil soup, chicken, beef, lamb, couscous, fruit, Moroccan cookies, tea, and tons and tons of delicious Moroccan bread. It was a great meal and we all left completely stuffed.

After, we went over to a comedy club. It was called Comedysportz and was very funny. The two "teams" competed for funniest of the night and we laughed until our stomachs hurts. Then we went back to the hotel and watched a movie, did henna tattoos, ate cake, and stayed up till 2 am. When we woke up we had breakfast at Toast and then drove home

Sunday we had my birthday dinner which we have the closest Sunday to my birthday. It is always the same meal, Parmesan breadcrumb chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, a seasonal vegetable, and bread. Monday was my real birthday and it was a pretty mellow day. For dinner we went to the Cheesecake Factory and I bought a Juicy charm for my bracelet.

On Tuesday my cousins Heather and Heidi invited us to see the the American Idol Finale dress rehearsal with them. Heidi couldn't make it so it was just Heather my mom, and me. It was amazing! Crystal and Lee were awesome and Ryan was as funny as ever. This time it was at the Nokia so it was much bigger. It was so much fun and we loved spending time with Heath! Thank you guys so much for the tickets! It was such a fun "birthday present".

Gidget

As many of you know, Gidget is my black pug. She is the pug refered to on my blog title. She is my favorite little animal and our whole family is obsessed with her. I think this may stem from the fact that she is our family's first pet. The story goes like this: When I was 11, my mom bought me a book series, The Clique. It is still one of my favorite series and I re-read them at least a few times a year, I even tried out for the movie. Well the main character had a black pug, and I thought they were just the cutest things in the world! Before my 12th birthday I begged my parents, found a breeder, and the next thing we knew, Gidget was on a non-stop flight from Oklahoma. I was on a school trip in Catalina so I was not there to pick her up from the airport, but Ford, Grace, and my Mom were and they said she was so small (she weighed 3 pounds when we got her) and she was so scared in her little crate (imagine a little puppy just separated from her mom on a 5 hour flight! So sad!). Gidget is now 4 years old and weighs 20 lbs. She is our little baby and we love her. Ford, Grace and I constintly fight over who she gets to sleep with. I usually win. We love her so much! She is more a part of the family than a dog and she brightens our days so much.

Pugs are the best dogs in the world, so if you are looking for a sweet, cuddly, mellow, adorable dog, pugs are the ones! Did you know that they were bred only to be companions? They are the best! We love Gidget and you will too!

This is one of my favorite blogs: www.seaofshoes.typepad.com She is a highschooler who lives in Texas and she has the most fabulous sense of style. She is the god-daughter of Karl Lagerfeld and has amazing connections in the world of fashion. I want to sneak into her house in the middle of the night and steal all of her shoes. They are to diiiiie for. Some of my favorites.

Well.....I Tried

So my promise to blog often has fallen through....well now at least you know not to lend me money. March/April has been crazy for us (as always) with birthdays, Spring Break, family, and school. One of the most exciting things I've done this month (or year) was last Tuesday. Our family just got tv about 2 1/2 years ago after never having it, and needless to say, we're hooked. One of the shows my mom and I are OBSESSED with is American Idol. Last year was the first time we watched American Idol (although I did tune in to the end of season 7 when I heard about David Archuletta) and honestly it kinda started to overtake our lives. Let's just say I was a little devistated when Adam lost...
This was my my phone's wall paper for about 4 months:
Well I signed up for tickets to American Idol LAST year about mid-March. If you don't know how the tickets work, you sign up on the American Idol website, and wait until your the list gets down to your name. The tickets are free but it takes over a year. Well, last Saturday I got the email that my time had come. We had the choice of the Tuesday dress rehearsal, the Tuesday live show, or the Wednesday results show. My mom really wanted to do the rehearsal becuase she wanted to sit down (the tickets say standing room only), but I wasn't so sure. We decided to do the rehearsal and it was the most fun I have ever had! There was much more intimacy and everything was much less serious. On Tuesday I missed school and we drove up to LA. We got some lunch at the Farmer's Market and waited in line. We had a little visit from some very flambouyant drag queens who didn't have tickets but wanted to join the fun. They talked and took pictures for about 20 min. then they got bored and left. We waited about 3 hours before they let us in and then we walked through a little walk way and it opened into a tiny little auditorium! I really didn't expect it to be so small. It was no bigger then my school auditorium. We got put in the left mosh pit and even though we were both a little reluctant about standing for 2 hours we both agreed that being 5 feet away from the performers was much better then sitting in the back. The tech crew was very nice and told us what to do and make sure you're always smiling and have high energy and clap OVER your head because they use clips for the real show. I also found out that when you watch the end of the show on tv and it shows the numbers to vote and a little clip of the singing, all that is from the dress rehearsal. At about t-10 min the tech people were aranging everyone and moving people (My mom and I were standing in the middle of the mosh pit) and the lady told me to follow her and she moved me to the very front middle. I was a little sad about being seperated from my mom but I was sooooooo close! I was so close I was touching the stage the whole show. Since it was a rehearsal the judges weren't there so they had doubles that stood in. It was hilarious! They have to be the same height and have the same hair as the judges for lighting and sound purposes so if you don't have good eyes (like me) they looked exactly alike! Ryan was so funny and he talked to our "pit" a lot. During a break he was on his phone and someone asked if he was twittering and he laughed and said "no, do you want me to?" and then he had a turn towards him and then he took a picture of us and twittered about it! This is the site: http://twitpic.com/1iyjqy The performers were awsome ( Lee and Casey melted my heart :-) ) As I was watching Ryan talk to big Mike, my mom tapped my shoulder and pointed to the stairs that I was standing right next to and Casey was sitting on them! He was so close I could have reached out and touched him! I was a little shell-shocked to say the least. It was such a fun experience and I will never forget it! After, we had a fun night shopping and having dinner at The Grove. They don't allow phones or cameras so I don't have any pictures but it was amazing! I love LA and I wish we could go up more. For now I guess we'll have to settle with good ole' Laguna Beach.

Well...Here I go

I've debated about starting a blog for a while now and I've decided to take the plunge. I've never really kept a journal before so I'm dedicated to try to blog as often as I can in order to preserve memories. Currently, some of my favorite things are:
Food: Spicy carnitas torta from La Sierena, Hickory burger from Ruby's, mom's parmasan breadcrumb chicken, Ben and Jerry's phish food, Sparkling water
Movies: Father of the Bride, The Last Holiday, The Holiday, Something's Gotta Give, Miss Congeniality, Mamma Mia,
Stores: Forever 21, H&M, Juicy Couture, Banana Republic, Nordstroms, Old Navy
I have a 3 (almost 4) year old pug named Gidget Pescualli Marie Honey-Buns Pugmire Roxy Brian XVIII who I got for my 12th birthday.
I am starting up figure skating again (I was a competitive figure skater from 3-5th grade untill I broke my ankle) and recently got a pair of skates for Christmas. I am currently saving up my money for a pair of Chanel Sunglasses.
